The quality of the resulting oil is influenced by the quality of the seed. Before the seed is processed, it is sampled and analysed as part of our Quality Assurance. It may be necessary to pre-condition the seed (e.g. by Drying, Cracking/Flaking and/or Preheating).

For much requirements the seed is first mechanically screw (cold) pressed, hereby producing the initial stream of oil. Subsequently the seed (or presscake) is conveyed into a continues flow extractor, where it is brought into contact with a food grade hexane solvent. The extraction process is carried out at room temperature in an oxygen free environment. The solvent is removed from the oil to leave, if required, less than 1 part per million in the oil (to meet current regulations for human nutrition). Depending on the type of oil and required specifications, our customers are able to use our oil without further refining.
